3 simple steps to meal prep like a pro:
1. Bulk Prep
Collect the ingredients you want your meals to comprise of. To double your recipes, serve one hot and freeze the rest to create an inventory of meals in your freezer. Make sure to label & date the contents. Add fun spices and herbs, but keep it simple, to maintain the freshness of your meals. Setting aside a few hours to cook all your meals will ensure you don't have to cook at the end of a long day when your energy tank is running low. Get creative!
Be resourceful by using food storage containers. Make sure your containers are BPA-free, freezer safe, microwave safe and of course reusable. Distribute your cooked food in roughly equal portions into the containers. Prep your meals into single serving & family-sized portions to build some meals that are ready to defrost and heat up on busy days.
3. Refrigerate or Freeze
Simply close off your containers and store them in the fridge! Save your sauces for the day you eat your meal, to prevent sogginess. The recommended time for meals to be stored in the fridge is 3 to 4 days for optimal freshness, however they can be stored for up to five days. With your meals stored and ready to eat, simply microwave them for 1 minute and 45 seconds before eating. Enjoy your home-cooked meals!
